The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is a global bar association that promotes the common professional and business interests of in-house counsel who work for corporations, associations and other private-sector organizations through information, education, networking opportunities and advocacy initiatives. With more than 33,000 members in 85 countries, employed by over 10,000 organizations, ACC connects its members to the people and resources necessary for both personal and professional growth.
ACC retained Avenue M Group to conduct a global Chief Legal Officer survey and analyze the results. As the largest global survey of CLOs, the report included an executive summary, key findings, demographics, a profile of who is serving in the CLO role today, data reporting on staffing, budgeting and compensation, and a snapshot of law departments in a variety of settings.
The survey, which includes responses from more than 1,200 individuals in 41 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Brazil and Israel, revealed that ethics and compliance (88%), regulatory or government changes (83%) and information privacy (79%) will lead as the most pressing issues keeping CLOs up at night in the year ahead.
